Presentation of the enterprise
Promotion intervention en milieu ouvert is a not-for-profit group founded in 1986 with the mandate of providing personalized support services to ensure the social inclusion of adults with a motor impairment who reside in Montréal. In practical terms, this involves the assistance of a trained and remunerated assistant who enables them to take part in activities that satisfy all kinds of needs: medical, recreation, utilitarian, and civic.
PIMO promotes access to assistance with a view to developing its network in every region of Québec, as advocated in the policy adopted by the Québec government in 2009, Equals in Every Respect. This policy was partly the result of PIMO’s work to make
assistance a public priority.
“Risq’s financial support will allow us to conduct a feasibility study on the profitability of a social economy enterprise dedicated to assistance/support. Pimo will then be in a stronger position to advocate for this alternative and make a more enlightened management decision concerning a potential restructuring.”
